Interview with Ivana Olbricht

  1. What is it like to make a living from what you really love?

Ivana: I can’t even express the feeling. Although you never know what tomorrow brings I am very grateful for this opportunity and I wish everybody could do what they love.

  1. What do you love the most apart from painting?

Ivana: My family takes the first place of course. Then freedom, spirits of the forests, the magic of the fire in the fireplace, singing birds, heights of the mountains, sound of the sea, the taste of chocolate and so on? – it would be a long list.

  1. Have you ever dreamt of being an artist? Did you plan it?

Ivana: I don’t plan things ahead. We have many dreams when we are children about what we want to become. It wasn’t my intention nor a goal to become an artist. It came to me gradually, naturally and kind of unexpectedly. I think there is an artist in each of us but not everyone tries or want to choose this way.

  1. How do you know that your artwork is finished?

Ivana: It is just an inner feeling I can’t explain it by words.

  1. You do sometimes commision works as well. Are there any color combinations you don’t like to do?

Ivana: I have no problem with color combinations. I do all kinds of crazy color mixes. Sometimes I create minimalist artworks. We all have different taste and if someone likes brown with olive green – why not? ?. I read a quote once, I am not sure by whom it was written, but I totally agree with it: „ It doesn’t matter who painted the painting or how much it costs, only you will have to live with it in one household each day and every.‘‘

  1. Do you see anything on your abstract works?

Ivana: Sometimes yes another time no. It is very interesting to listen to people’s opinion and point of view. That is why I love abstract because it never bores me, each day you look at it you can see something different on it.

  1. Where you get the inspiration from?

Ivana: Everywhere. When I look at anything  I see it as a whole. I ignore the details, I focus on colors which comes to the surface. I am trying to capture the feeling the mood or the story of the object or the situation.

  1. Is there an artist you admire?

Ivana: Not really?. I like many paintings and many artist, but I admire the doctors without borders and other people who are helping personally in the ‚field‘.

The other people whose names nor faces we don’t know but still they spread positivity in any way to this world.

  1. What makes you happy?

Ivana: Health- sounds cliche but true. If you are healthy you can do anything you want.

Nobody is always happy and everybody is happy at least sometimes!
