Portofilio review

Portfolio review by Anastasia Mitrogogou (Porrotin art gallery)

The artist’s portfolio in terms of colors, shapes, texture, size, as well as used material, medium, and process is very captivating. I particularly like her color palette which is very soothing and calming to the senses. The shapes, texture and size of canvases are evocative of Ivana’s painting style. I clearly appreciate her impressionistic flair for abstraction, as well as the framing and overall composition. Even if we get a sense ofthe  absence of 3D elements, there is a depth that Ivana captures in a different way.

The strength of the portfolio is based on the work Spring fields of the Netherlands (Abstract nature, 10/30/22). I’m clearly attracted by the pastel colors of these paintings and their overall technique. It seems to me that this could be a prehistoric painting for some reason. The way Ivana prepares her canvas before adding colors and the color layering on top of it make this painting beautiful. It’s a large canvas so I would definitely like to see it up close to feel what kind of reaction it bestows in its presence.

Ivana Olbricht’s vibrant and expressive use of colours enhances the emotional impact of her pieces. Her compositions exhibit a balanced interplay between geometric and organic shapes. The arrangement of elements within each piece is well-considered. Whether in structured works like the ‘Balance’ series or textured pieces such as ‘The Flames of Childhood – XXL’, Olbricht demonstrates a thoughtful approach within the composition. Her adept management of spatial structure results in a portfolio that is aesthetically pleasing at first glance.
